GET A TECHNOLOGY TECHNOLOGY IN
Shortly before the launch of PlayStation 5 Pro, the new generation game console developed by Sony, more details are emerging about the Game Boost technology, one of the amazing features of the device. Aoki, the PlayStation product manager, made statements about this technology that will bring joy to the players and shared how Game Boost will take the performance of the console to higher levels.
WHAT IS GAME BOOST TECHNOLOGY IN PLAYSTATION 5 PRO?
Game Boost technology, which stands out as one of the amazing features of PlayStation 5 Pro, was previously announced by Mark Cerny, PS5’s chief architect. According to Aoki’s latest statements, Game Boost will improve performance by supporting more than 8,500 PlayStation 4 games and will also bring significant improvements in PlayStation 5 games.
A powerful CPU stands out
The console is equipped with a more powerful GPU with 67% more processing units and 28% faster memory compared to the current PS5 model. These improvements allow games to be processed 45% faster and improve frame rates, while offering performance without sacrificing visual quality.
The extra power of the PS5 Pro will make a difference, especially in games that use ray tracing technology. Sony has announced that developers will be able to double or triple the speed of ray tracing on the PS5 Pro. The console will also feature PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology supported by artificial intelligence. This technology will replace games upscaling techniques to increase frame rates and image quality, similar to Nvidia’s DLSS and AMD’s FSR systems.
Sony chief architect Mark Cerny showed some of the games running on PS5 Pro. The Last of Us Part II can be played with more detail at 60fps on PS5 Pro, compared to the quality mode that runs at 30fps on PS5. In addition, the aim is to achieve similar quality graphics at high frame rates in games such as Spider-Man 2 and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
The “Game Boost” feature on PS5 Pro will be applied to over 8,500 PS4 games that are backwards compatible on PS5 Pro. Hideaki Nishino, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s platform business group, said that this feature can improve the performance of PS4 and PS5 games. There will also be an “Enhanced Image Quality” option that will provide higher resolution in some PS4 games.
It supports VRR AND 8K
The console will support Wi-Fi 7, VRR and 8K resolution. Sony announced that the PS5 Pro will come with a 2TB SSD and that a USB-C port has been replaced by a USB-A port. PS5 Pro also has an additional SSD slot for expansion.
Games must be updated to take advantage of some PS5 Pro features. Sony said that developers can benefit from these features with free software updates prepared specifically for PS5 Pro. Until the release of PS5 Pro, almost 50 games such as Alan Wake 2, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Demon’s Souls, Gran Turismo 7 and The Last of Us Part II Remastered will receive this update.
Sony said that the PS5 Pro will not make any changes to the user interface or network services and will be identical to the current PS5. The console will be compatible with PlayStation VR2, PlayStation Portal handheld and existing PS5 controllers.
Pre-orders for the PS5 Pro will begin on September 26, and the console will go on sale on November 7.
