Microsoft often talks about the computing capacity of its Xbox Series X and makes it a main selling point for its console. But in recent weeks, the discourse has changed at Phil Spencer’s, which evokes power certainly, but which will be nothing without unique gameplay experiences.
A reversal which can be explained by the fact that currently no detailed technical data sheet is known for the next two machines (Xbox and PS5), and that in addition to that, it appears that the GPU of the PS5 will in reality be slightly faster than on Xbox.
At Microsoft, the Anaconda should offer 12 TFLOPS of computing power while at Sony, we were talking about 9.2 TFLOPS.
A third-party tester recently submitted various benchmarks to the two development kits and it appears that the balance has been reversed. Thus the Xbox kit would finally deliver a power of 11.8 TFLOPS while that of the PS5 would deliver 12.6 TFLOPS.

Still, the Xbox will benefit from a slightly overclocked CPU at 3.7 GHz against 3.6 GHz for the PS5 and 18 GB of GDDR6 RAM against 16 for the PS5 and 4 GB of DDR4 for the system.
It is on the SSD that Sony could differentiate itself with an NVMe SSD designed in partnership with Samsung to reach up to 5.5 GB / s where the Xbox should cap at 3.8 GB / s.
It remains to be seen, on the one hand, whether this power difference will also be seen on the models sold, but whether it will be enough to make a real difference in play.
