PlayStation 5 elite controller has shorter battery life

On January 26, Sony releases its answer to the Xbox Elite Controller. DualSense edge it attracts, among other things, with customization options for different controller layouts and profiles, but it all comes at the expense of battery life.

Here are the features that Sony has packed into the DualSense Edge.

– The DualSense Edge wireless controller’s runtime is moderately shorter than the original DualSense controller because we’ve packed so many more features within the same fit and ergonomic design of the original DualSense controller. We wanted to strike a good balance between wireless uptime and delivering robust features with high performance.

The spokesperson for the Japanese company also added that battery life can be extended using the controller’s new braided cable. This will also be longer than the one that comes with the regular DualSense controller.

Work on the DualSense Edge began in 2018. Sony says it conducted over 100 sessions with pro gamers during the development period to arrive at the best solution for a new controller. Through this process, the company has decided to keep the original size of the DualSense, which combined with the new features has therefore exceeded the battery life.
