Playlist transfer to «YouTube Music» now possible

Subscribers of Apple Music can now transfer their playlists to “YouTube Music” – Apple said in a new Support documentThis new feature is available via the Apple website for «Data and Privacy» Users can log in there and select the option “Transfer a copy of your data” to transfer their playlists to YouTube Music to migrate.

It is important to note that currently only the transfer to YouTube Music is supported – whether other music streaming services such as Spotify will be added at some point remains to be seen. To perform a transfer, an active Apple Music or iTunes Match subscription and an active YouTube Music account are required.

There are some restrictions: Only playlists that you have created yourself will be transferred, including shared playlists that you own. Music files themselves, shared playlists that are not shared playlists, and curated playlists will not be transferred. The folder structures of Apple Music playlists will not be transferred, and only songs that are on YouTube Music available will be transferred.

Once the transfer is complete, the transferred playlists can be found in YouTube Music in the «Media library» tab. If titles are missing, this is probably because they are YouTube Music are not available. The entire transfer process can take a few minutes to several hours, depending on the number of playlists.
