Playing as a female African refugee in Assassin’s Creed Red – Zing

In the second half of this year, we will probably see a new part of the Assassin’s Creed series with the subtitle Mirage. This part takes us to Baghdad in the 9th century. According to recent unofficial information, this is far from being the only title from the popular universe that should be currently in development. Specifically, they are talking about seven upcoming games from the Assassin’s Creed series, which include the officially confirmed part with the working title Red set in feudal Japan.

Well-known journalist and insider Tom Henderson brought more detailed information about this project, which is apparently part of the live-service platform Assassin’s Creed: Infinity, today. In his article for Insider Gaming magazine citing his anonymous sources, claims that Assassin’s Creed Red will feature two playable characters. Specifically, a woman-samurai and a refugee from Africa representing a ninja should go.

Although the choice of an African refugee in feudal Japan may seem inappropriate at first glance, it is possible that the developers they are inspired by the real character of Yasuke, who is considered by some sources to be the first samurai originally from Africa. However, it must be noted that this is just speculation.

Henderson further states in his article that the game will mainly focus on stealth. According to his information, developers from the Ubisoft Quebec studio were inspired by the Splinter Cell or Hitman series. For example, there is no shortage of hiding bodies, hiding in tall grass or turning off the lights. The Assassin’s Creed Red release date is reportedly internally set for 2024. However, a postponement to 2025 is not excluded.
