Nusa Dua –
Final ticket Indonesia Open 2021 in the grip Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon. Aggressive play from the start is the key to the Minions’ victory.
Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon step into the final Indonesia Open 2021 after winning the Indian doubles, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty, Saturday (27/11/2021) night. The Indonesian doubles, world number one, won 21-16 and 21-18 in the match at the Bali International Convention Center.
Different from the last few matches where Kevin / Marcus played more waiting in the first game, this time they were aggressive from the start. That’s because they don’t want to give the opponent any momentum.
“First of all grateful to still be given the win today. Today we played better, pressing from the start, trying to play faster because we know this Indian pair are strong and the energy is good too,” Marcus told reporters after the match.
“So basically we don’t plan to play defense first, so we force ourselves to attack first.”
“I think they started to speed up the game in the second set, played more quickly. Maybe they focused more on pressing in the second set,” he added.
This is the first time Kevin / Marcus won two games, after the last five matches since the Indonesia Masters 2021 last week were always through rubber games. Finishing the match a little earlier gave them a small advantage to face the final on Sunday (28/11) tomorrow.
“Obviously it’s nice to be able to play two games, faster. But yes, today is the same, the matches are not easy either,” said Kevin.
“We played two games and the time was 45 minutes. So yes, the important thing is that we prepare the best for tomorrow,” he said.
