Popular products tend to be exploited by scammers, and so also in the gaming world. Now CD Projekt RED has come up with an ever so small warning to players.
On the official Twitter account to Cyberpunk 2077, the developer states that false invitations are sent out for beta testing of the studio’s long-awaited role-playing game – which can therefore be safely ignored.
No beta testing planned
The invitations are probably a form of phishing attack that attempts to exploit the game’s popularity to steal sensitive information from the audience, which in turn can be used for profiteering or other forms of criminal activity.
The developer emphasizes that all official communication with both fans and content creators comes from a CDProjektRed.com address, and never from third parties who may claim to work with the developer.
As for a possible beta version of the game replied CD Projekt RED in a separate Twitter message that there are no plans for this, for the many who may wonder.
The game is not terribly far away anyway, even though it has been postponed several times. The original launch month was April this year, but later it was postponed until September, before it again was moved to November 19 – which is the final date.
