Player union agrees to NHL plans – sport.ORF.at

The Ice Hockey Players’ Union (NHLPA) has approved the National Hockey League (NHL) plans to continue the fight for the Stanley Cup with expanded play-offs with 24 teams. As the NHLPA announced, however, exact details still have to be clarified, including the venues and the conduct of the coronavirus tests.

An announcement of the exact format could be made in the coming days. This would eliminate the remaining main round games.

According to US media reports, there would only be two locations, the Stanley Cup final would be in September and the start of the coming season would be delayed. The NHL has not yet officially commented on its plans to continue the season.
