Playdate Console Smashes Sales Expectations in First Year, Selling over 53,000 Units

It’s been a year since the Playdate console was officially launched, and with that, the mini console maker has now released some sales information about the product’s first year, which has been very successful.

As mentioned in a press release, we’re told that Playdate sold 53,142 units in the first 12 months, absolutely smashing the expectation the manufacturer had for its first year. We’re told that Playdate originally intended to make 20,000 units, and that it was uncertain whether it would sell them all, but now it has already shipped 27,000 consoles and fulfilled half of its current orders.

As for when they intend to catch up with this demand for the system, Playdate even notes that they expect to ship all pre-orders by the end of this year, meaning that hopefully it will be easier to get hold of one of the tiltable consoles from 2024.

Have you booked a Playdate?
