On May 18, Play presented its new service offers for the home with New Generation Television and super-fast optical fiber, as well as 5G subscriptions with large data packages and a promotion for number porters. According to the network, these are solutions for everyone who values freedom of choice and attractive discounts on services – when choosing television, fiber optic and mobile subscription, you can save up to PLN 50 per month.
Orange spokesman Wojciech Jabczyński stated that the new offer is in practice a farewell to the UPC brand.

According to our unofficial information, the company plans to rebrand UPC Polska to Play. However, on Thursday, the president did not confirm this. – The UPC brand remains for UPC services. They have different characteristics, emphasized Jean Marc Harion.
We also asked about UPC Polska’s analogue services, whether the network intends to switch them off, and if so, when. – We still have the old network, but we are renewing it piece by piece, we believe it is the technology of the past. We are modernizing the network in all areas where we still have an analog network to digitize it – replied the president of Play.
New Generation Television for freedom of choice
Play has prepared for its customers a TV service available in two variants: Telewizja Nowa Generacji, combining channel packages with streaming services, and Telewizja Max with a wide portfolio of channels. Both variants have the same price – PLN 45 with a discount for Play customers.
New Generation Television is a solution that combines the offer of television with video services, which, according to Play, has never existed before. As part of the service, customers receive 75 popular channels, access to Viaplay for the subscription price and a pool of points that can be freely exchanged for streaming services, premium packages and packages of additional channels. Thanks to this, everyone can create their own offer every month from scratch to watch as many interesting movies, series or sports broadcasts as possible. All at one price.
As part of the offer, customers opting for New Generation Television will receive a bonus of 100 points every month for the first six months. Thanks to this, they will be able to test the service and additional packages without any obstacles and choose the most interesting content. Points can be used to access: Netflix, HBO Max, Polsat Sport Premium, CANAL+ online, ELEVEN SPORTS, Cinemax or packages of thematic channels: Kids, Sport, Films and series, Info, Documents, Lifestyle, Polsat.
The second variant, created for those who seek entertainment primarily on TV channels, provides customers with 157 channels from the Max package, access to Viaplay for the subscription price and access to the Netflix service for 2 months as a gift, as well as the option to buy premium services and packages at any time.
The technological partner of the Play TV service is the leading provider of online video solutions, the technology company Redge Technologies sp. z o. o., which belongs to the Play Group.
Super-fast optical fiber – up to 5 Gbps
Play also presented a new offer of super-fast optical fiber up to 5 Gb/s, which is to meet the expectations of even the most demanding users. Achieving such parameters is possible thanks to the most modern optical fiber network in the country used by the operator. The highest speed is available in selected areas, outside of which Play also offers internet speeds of 1 Gb/s, 600 Mb/s and 300 Mb/s. For starters, thanks to a special promotion, each variant, even 5 Gb / s, can be had for the first six months for PLN 35 per month.
Ultimately, the network wants the fiber to reach 6 million households in Poland.
A family of modern Play devices – PLAY BOX TV set-top box and PLAY BOX NET router
New devices presented by the operator will guarantee the best experience of using Play’s television and fiber optic services. The PLAY BOX TV set-top box and the PLAY BOX NET router are designed to be a coherent, aesthetic duo. Convenient use of the Internet outside the home is ensured by subscriptions, where in addition to unlimited calls, SMSs and MMSs, the purple operator also offers large data packages – up to 300 GB at full speed per month. Now anyone who has selected home services in Play or UPC can transfer their numbers to Play and get 2 5G subscriptions for the price of 1 – from PLN 65 per month after discounts. Taking care of the needs of all customers, Play is also preparing special salons in a new version. There are furniture tailored to the needs of customers – low desks, comfortable chairs and a relaxation area. In addition, the operator’s website has a smartphone guide for seniors and more, as well as a special section with educational videos to make learning to use a smartphone a pleasure.
During the conference, it was also revealed that the actor Leszek Lichota, known, among others, took part in the new advertising spots of the network. from the main role in the series “Wataha”, he will also appear in the title role in the remake of the cult “Znachor”.
Joint owner of Play and UPC Polska
In 2020, the French Iliad Group bought the Play mobile network for PLN 9.6 billion. A year ago, the takeover of UPC Polska from Liberty Global for PLN 7.013 billion was finalized.
With the takeover of UPC Polska, the revenues of the Play group last year have gone up by 22 percent. to PLN 8.93 billion. Telekom earned a net profit of PLN 1.16 billion. It already has 8.98 million mobile subscribers and 2.02 million fixed-line customers, while in the second half of the year it lost over 100,000. card users. In total, Play with UPC Polska had 11 million subscribers at the end of 2022.
In the last quarter, Play Group gained PLN 97,000 net. customers, its pro forma revenues grew by 6.9 percent. to PLN 2.38 billion, and outlays on investments outside frequencies – decreased by 13 percent.
