Gaming headsets are those accessories that have become essential in the setups of most gamers, from the most professional to the amateurs. This time we tested the Carus from Trust. First of all, an impression: the build quality is acceptable for a 35 euro headphone. These headphones are made of plastic and have a thin metal part inside to give them rigidity. The position can be adjusted in the traditional way, with a system that allows you to raise or lower each speaker independently.
On the left speaker stand are the only two controls on these Carus: a volume regulator and a microphone on/off switch, which is not detachable, but has a folding stem that can be taken out of the front when not in use. .
The speakers are large and have thick foam, covered in black fabric, foam that can wrap the entire ear to limit the external sound that tries to “distract” us during a game. The piece that holds the headphones also has a thick foam to give some comfort when used for a long time.
Connection to the computer or console is via a cable with a 3.5 mm jack plug. Here is the first flaw of this Carus – the cable is short, only 1.2 meters long; that is, if we are using it on a computer that is on the floor, it may require some gymnastics. The second is the sound quality: it’s not bad, but it lacks some vigor in the mid-tones, which makes the dialogue sound a little dull. In the bass and treble, the reproduction is very clear.
The Carus are lightweight headsets that fit well: even when worn for a long time, there is no discomfort.
