Harry Maguire threatened to be absent at Europa League final next week. If indeed Maguire cannot appear, his role will still be important to Manchester United.
Maguire suffered an injury when facing Aston Villa in the Premier League, 9 May. The world’s most expensive defender has a problem with his ankle.
The injury forced Maguire to miss the next three MU matches and it happened that none of them were won. Two defeats to Leicester City and Liverpool, and Fulham matched 1-1.
This condition makes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager worried because Maguire is considered to be an important part of MU defense. Without it, the back line is chaotic.
Well, a glimmer of hope came when Maguire was able to walk without crutches last Thursday while attending an event. In fact, this cannot guarantee Maguire’s chances of playing.
According to Solskjaer, Maguire suffered a ligament injury so he had to rest longer. Even so, MU was asked not to worry about anything if Maguire was absent because the captain could help out on the sidelines.
“He is a very important person in the dressing room and a leader,” Solskjaer was quoted as saying RTE.
“Before the fans came, I think you all heard his screams from the stands,” he continued.
“He always wants the team to do well of course, he even manages from the stands, which is easy to do when conditions are calm.”
“So he will still come, he will be in the dressing room, and make sure everyone is ready to appear in the final,” concluded Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
