After the crazy finish of the basic groups, the composition of the semi-final pairs of the Hlinka Gretzky Cup is clear. The Czech national team will face Finland, while Canada will challenge the United States in an overseas derby.
At the same time, the Finns grabbed the promotion to the playoffs until three seconds before the end of the duel with Slovakia. In the Trenčín group B, they took second place behind Canada, which has the best record in the mini-table with the Swiss. The sad ones.
The Czechs similarly won the Břeclav group A thanks to the first place in the mini table with the Americans and the Swedes.
Both semi-final battles will be played on Friday from 19:00, the Czechs will understandably fight for the final in front of their fans. Overseas units will fight in Trenčín.
The Slovaks only have to fight for the final seventh place against the Germans, in the duel for the fifth place, Sweden will face Switzerland on the Břeclav ice.
