EVERYONE TALKS ABOUT THE WEATHER
Director Annika Pinske, who previously worked with Maren Ade (“Toni Erdmann”) and René Pollesch, won the German short film award a few years ago for her short film “Homework”. With humorous and wonderfully punctual dialogues and precise interpersonal observations, her film debut tells the story of an educational mountaineer from East Germany between everyday life in the metropolis and growing up in the provinces. “There are movies that are so close that they call for a nice glass of red wine and a pack of cigarettes when they run out.” (Kino-Zeit)
Clara managed to break out of the provinces, lead her life as a lecturer in Berlin and even get her doctorate in philosophy. Between professional ambitions, a relationship with a student and the demanding friendship with her supervisor Margot, there is little time for family. When she comes home with her daughter for her mother Inge’s 60th birthday, she confronts her with her ideal of her free life of hers …
