PlatinumGames is not negative about possible acquisition

Atsushi Inaba reports this in a conversation with VGC following his new role as CEO of the Japanese developer behind games such as Bayonetta, Nier: Automata and Astral Chain. He finds it especially important that PlatinumGames retains the freedom to make what they want.

“The most important thing for us is that we have the freedom to make games that we want to make. From what I’m hearing about recent purchases, I don’t think Microsoft is going to micromanage Activision and take away all of their freedom… I don’t think it will. such a working relationship.”

He continues: “I think there’s going to be a lot of mutual respect and I think Activision can continue to do what they do best. That’s what’s most important to us, whatever shape it takes for us and our business. don’t just reject something as long as our freedom is respected.”

With this, Inaba does not necessarily mean that PlatinumGames is for sale or that there are companies that have shown an interest in taking over the developer. Inaba seems to be looking primarily at the most recently announced acquisitions — such as Microsoft’s intent to acquire Activision Blizzard — and doesn’t necessarily see anything negative in that.
