Recall: Pizza snails can contain plastic particles

The company Dermaris GmbH from Lippstadt (North Rhine-Westphalia) has started a recall for salami pizza snails. According to the company, it cannot be excluded that there are plastic particles in the food. It is not recommended to consume the product.

Dermaris GmbH from Lippstadt in North Rhine-Westphalia is recalling the product “Dermaris Pizza Snails Salame 270g” with the batch number 3022004 and the best before date (best before date) 07.05.2020.

Ingestion is not recommended

“It cannot be ruled out that small, white plastic particles are in the product,” the company wrote in a customer announcement that the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) published on its portal “lebensmittelwarnung.de”.

“As a precaution, the above-mentioned article with the above-mentioned expiration date should therefore no longer be consumed,” it continues.

Customers who have already bought the product in question are asked not to continue using it, but to bring it back to the shops. The purchase price will be refunded there.

Foreign bodies in food

In food production, unfortunately, there are always contaminations or foreign bodies such as glass, aluminum or plastic residues.

Foreign bodies in food can cause dangerous injuries and complaints when consumed.

Depending on the size, nature and material of the swallowed part, chewing can occur in the mouth and throat, for example. In addition, depending on the size, swallowed foreign bodies can also block the esophagus or digestive organs.

If smaller parts remain in the body, they can trigger inflammation in some cases. Internal injuries cannot be ruled out either.

Therefore, it is generally not recommended to consume food that may contain foreign objects. (ad)
