Plastic Factory Fire in Jakarta Seen from Soekarno-Hatta Airport

A puff of smoke plastic factory fire in Kalideres, West Jakarta, visible to the area Soekarno Hatta Airport. The police ensured that the smoke from the fire did not disrupt flights at Soekarno-Hatta Airport

“Not (interfering with flights), safe. While there is no impact yet,” said the Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police, Kombes Roberto Pasaribu, in a statement to journalists, Friday (19/5/2023).

Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police has prepared personnel at each portal post as a mitigation measure. The police will be on standby whenever they need mobilization assistance.



“Personnel of each portal post stand by to facilitate the route if there is mobilization of firefighting vehicles from Tangerang City to the location of the fire via the northern perimeter public route,” said Roberto.

“We also coordinate with related units if the fire impact disrupts flight activities,” he added.

Meanwhile, Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Polresta Traffic Police Commissioner Bambang Askar Sodiq said fire smoke was seen on Jalan Perimeter 2 in the Soekarno-Hatta Airport area. Meanwhile, the traffic at the location is monitored smoothly.

“Monitoring the traffic flow during the day at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police Traffic Monitoring Post on Jalan P2, the traffic flow was observed to be busy and smooth leading to Jakarta and Tangerang,” said Bambang.

Motorists are advised to be careful when driving considering that the plastic factory fire smoke has reached locations around the Soekarno-Hatta Airport area.

“Remain careful and concentrate on driving because there is black smoke due to a plastic factory fire around the Kalideres District area, West Jakarta,” he said.

The plastic factory in the Kalideres area, West Jakarta (Jakbar), caught fire at 13.23 WIB. A total of 15 units of fire engines (Damkar) were deployed to the location of the fire.
