Plastic bags – Rada banned the use and provided for fines

297 parliamentarians voted for the document.

Bill No. 2051-1 prohibits the use of:

  • ultralight plastic bags;
  • light plastic bags up to 50 microns thick;
  • oxo-decomposable (oxo-biodegradable) plastic bags.

In this case, the exception will be plastic bags, limited in size (225x345x450 mm) used for meat, fish and products from them, as well as bulk products for which the bag is the primary packaging.

According to the law, the distribution of plastic bags will be punishable by a fine from 1,700 to 3,400 hryvnia. For a repeated violation, a fine from 3400 to 8500 hryvnia will be charged.

We emphasize that if signed, the law will enter into force on the next day after its publication. However, it will enter into force six months after the date of its entry into force, with the exception of certain provisions of the document.
