MIAMI, United States. ─ The film Planted, directed by the director Lilo Vilaplana and produced by Leopoldo Fernández Pujals, won the Audience Award of the 38th Miami Film Festival, as it transpired in the afternoon today.
“Thanks to all who prefer Planted all over the world. Thank you for supporting us and wanting to do historical justice ”, Vilaplana wrote on his Facebook profile.
Last Sunday Vilaplana made strong criticism of the Miami Film Festival, assuring that its organizers had disrespected the historical exile by not awarding his film.
“The disrespect of the Miami Film Festival in Historical Exile and its complicity with the Castro dictatorship is an ignominy,” said the director.
In recent statements offered to CubaNet, Vilaplana questioned whether the documentary was recognized Cuban Dancer to the detriment of Planted.
“Those films that invite people to go to Cuba are complicit materials with the dictatorship, and that regime must be overthrown, because it has done a lot of harm to Cubans,” said the filmmaker.
