inflation
The Planning Bureau expects inflation of an average of 3 percent this year, according to the latest forecasts.
The previous forecast a month ago still showed an average annual inflation of 2.8 percent. The expectation for 2025 remains unchanged at an average annual inflation of 1.8 percent.
Both this and next year, civil servants can look forward to a higher salary, and benefits will also increase. The Planning Bureau expects the first exceedance of the central index in April 2024. The next exceedance is planned for March 2025, one month earlier than the previous forecast in February.
If the central index is exceeded, one month later the social benefits will be indexed by 2 percent and two months later the salaries of government employees will also be indexed by 2 percent. In the private sector, the timing and extent of wage indexation depend on the sector in which one is employed.
