The SAS flight should have gone between Longyearbyen and Oslo at 1.35pm on Friday afternoon.

Ivar Hagstrøm was on board the plane when he and the rest of the passengers were told to get off.

– The captain said that there was a collision between a vessel out on the square, a truck, he says to VG.

– There was one trolley with luggage that had not been loaded, so they stopped the luggage belt and started looking at the damage.

He and his partner are on their way home from holiday. They were supposed to fly on to Bergen, but miss this due to the delay.

STOP: There was one trolley of luggage that had not been loaded when the luggage conveyor belt stopped and the passengers were asked to get off the plane.

According to information Hagstrøm has received, there is supposed to be a small injury, described by the captain as “small as a coin”.

Nevertheless, it was decided that the flight should be cancelled.

All the luggage was unloaded from the plane. The passengers, who according to Hagstrøm had been on the plane for about ten minutes, were asked to get off.

They were quickly told that food was being served and that a new departure would be scheduled.

– Some were asked to take a night flight, for compensation of course, says Hagstrøm.

– We hope to take what comes now.

Aircraft damage

– The plane could not go because there was an aircraft accident at the airport, says Lars Wigelstorp Andersen, press spokesman for SAS.

He says that there must have been approximately 180 passengers on board the plane, and there is now an empty plane on its way from Oslo to pick up the passengers.

Andersen says that the damaged plane will remain until tomorrow. It is uncertain how extensive the damage to the plane is.

– We of course apologize for the inconvenience this causes for our passengers.
