PLAN INTERNATIONAL INJECTED IN 3 YEARS MORE THAN 750 MILLION IN THE EDUCATION OF GIRLS IN LOUGA

Louga, Dec 30 (APS) – Plan international Senegal has invested more than 750 million francs, in three years, in the Louga department (north), to improve the quality of school learning and strengthen the leadership of nearly 6,159 girls, learned the APS from the heads of the NGO.

This investment by Plan international Senegal in partnership with the Korean International Agency (KOICA) has enabled the creation of 23 inclusive classrooms, 59 inclusive hygiene blocks adapted to the management of periods and two fence walls in 33 schools including 24 elementary workers in the 11 project intervention communes, according to NGO data.

These are the municipalities of Nguidilé, Leona, Thiamène, Guet Ardo, Niomré, Sakal, Mbediene, Ngeune Sarr, Koki, Kelle Gueye and Louga.

“We have invested 750 million FCA francs or even nearly a billion to help improve the quality of education in target schools through reinforcement courses, strengthen the leadership of girls for a better development of their potential through training in advocacy, management and school management “, notably assured the coordinator of the Quality Education project, Marie Dione.

She recalled that school kits, hygiene kits for girls and others falling within the framework of the response to the Covid-19 epidemic had been distributed to learners in target schools during the three years of the project’s intervention. .

“Plan Senegal has developed and printed educational tools, 6,300 brochures on gender and inclusion, trained school stakeholders and partners involved in education,” said Ms. Dione, who recalls that nearly 6,159 girls and 4,813 boys had been supported by the project.

She specified that the investments made during these three years have made it possible to obtain good academic results.

“We recorded during this period of success ranging from 75 to 100% in the examinations of the Certificate of end of elementary studies, (CEFE) and the Brevet of end of secondary studies (BFEM)”, she said.

“It’s great to build classrooms, to support parents of students, but the challenge must be to ensure that the gains are sustained in order to allow our partners to continue to invest in the locality”, a- she declared.

The project coordinator insisted on the importance of raising awareness and maintaining the achievements made by the quality education project. “Our wish is the continuity of the project so that we can cover all the schools in the department,” she said.
