Plamen Penev died of suffocation – this is the conclusion of the forensic doctors who performed the autopsy on the 58-year-old man. According to “Po sveta i vu nas” sources, Penev was pinned to the ground by five police officers.
Footage from the officers’ body cameras showed one of the uniformed officers holding his legs while the other four tried to immobilize him by pinning him hard to the ground. Thus, the man’s lungs were severely restricted for a long time, he suffocated and died.
Yesterday two officers from the police in Stara Zagora were temporarily suspended from office because of the persecution that ended with the death of 58-year-old Plamen Penev.
The family of Plamen Penev is still looking for an answer to the question of what exactly happened. He often visited the gas station in question, where he drank coffee and walked his dog, as he lived nearby. He was not a conflicted person, had no tendency to self-harm and did not carry a weapon.
In the meantime, however, it became clear that he was forcibly placed in a psychiatric hospital. Since then, he has been working on a special regime.
According to the family’s lawyer, the 112 call should be publicized in order to find out the truth about what happened.
