Leipzig – A new area is being created in the west of Leipzig. The city is currently working on a new development plan for the area above and below Antonienstrasse.

According to the city, a mixed quarter with residential, commercial, retail and green spaces is to be created in the almost five hectare area north and south of Antonienstraße in Leipzig-Plagwitz.
“The planning challenge lies in the reorganization of the existing quarter with a large number of different owners,” according to the city administration.
The listed buildings on site and a balanced relationship between buildings and open space must also be taken into account. This is particularly important because the site is considered a heat hotspot.

As of now, trade is to be located in the northern area and housing or a mixture of housing, services and trade in the southern area of the quarter.
