Prague Schools that have had to declare director’s leave due to the quarantine of the teaching staff will be able to ask the Ministry of Education to change the organization of the school year. The office will allow them to postpone its beginning, or its interruption, and thus also ensure the right of parents to nursing.

Not all distance schools are ready for distance learning, the ministry should unify the rules, says the education expert |
Aneta Lednová, a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Education, said this on Thursday. This also follows from the letter sent by the Minister of Education Robert Plaga (for YES) to the head of school departments, František Dobšík. The letter is available to ČTK.
In the center of Plag, Dobšík called on him to push for clarification of the rules for closing schools, which, according to them, are not sufficient. In Prague, for example, hygienists left some schools open despite the quarantine of the teaching staff. The schools then declared director’s leave. This can be a maximum of five days, although quarantine can last longer than ten days. Parents who stay home with their children in this case are not entitled to nursing allowance.
Currently ⚠️ solution to the situation where KHS ordered quarantine for all or part of the teachers in the school: the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports will change the organization of the school year for the necessary period, thus ensuring, among other things, parents’ entitlement to nursing care due to an unforeseeable event ➡️ https://t.co/bFAvB4voIF

There is also a problem with distance learning, which in this case is not mandatory by law. Plaga said he would discuss this with Health Minister Adam Vojtech (both for YES). They wanted to reach an agreement by Friday. January confirmed on Thursday that they are working on it.
“In the event that the regional hygienic stations are not able to change their practice, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports will change the organization of the school year at the request of the school for schools that cannot provide full-time teaching due to quarantine of teachers and other staff. it will also ensure the parents’ entitlement to nursing allowance, “Plaga replied in a letter to Dobšík on Thursday.
“It would mean that the beginning of the school year could be postponed in these schools,” the spokeswoman explained. According to her, the Office has already enabled this solution in the elementary school of prof. Švejcar in Prague 12 or Gymnázium Nymburk.
According to the Minister of Education, the closure of a school due to a change in the organization of the school year can be described as an unforeseeable event in which entitlement to nursing allowance arises. According to Eva Dvořáčková, a representative of the school unions in Prague, hundreds of parents now had to stay at home with their children without nursing due to closed schools.
Nursing is now paid from health insurance at 60 percent of the basis of earning nine days for children under ten. The current proposal of the Ministry of Labor envisages that it would be paid for the entire period of possible closure of classes or schools. Support should be provided to schoolchildren under 13 years of age. According to Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES), however, the adjustment of the nursing home is not urgent now.
The new school year began, and dozens of schools did not open due to quarantine. Plaga talked about the necessary restrictions |
According to the Pedagogical Chamber, about two dozen out of a total of 12,000 schools did not open on Tuesday at the beginning of the school year. Plaga stated that there are more than ten schools that did not open by decision of the regional hygienic stations. In others, according to him, the principals decided to postpone the beginning of the school year. Professor Švejcar’s primary school in Prague 12, Waldorfská primary school in Jinonice or the Ped FUK primary primary school in Prague 13 remained closed due to the infection among teachers.
