The United Nations (UN) condemns series of pager and walkie-talkie explosions that killed 37 people inside Lebanon as a war crime. The UN warns that placing explosives inside civilian objects, such as communication devices, violates international humanitarian law.
Israel strongly suspects that it was behind the large explosion that hit the communication equipment used by the members Hizbullahgroup based in Lebanon and supported by Iran, on Tuesday (17/9) and Wednesday (18/9) local time.
Pagers and walkie-talkies explode when their users shop in supermarkets, walk the streets, and attend funerals. This incident caused panic and scared the people of Lebanon.

Tel Aviv has so far not made a direct reference to the mass explosion incident in Lebanon.
“International humanitarian law prohibits the use of arresting devices in the form of portable, seemingly harmless objects,” stressed the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, while speaking before the UN Security Council, as reported. AFPSaturday (21/9/2025).
UN Security Council held an emergency session on Friday (20/9), proposed by Algeria, to discuss the current situation in Lebanon.
“Committing violence intended to spread fear among civilians is a war crime,” Turk warned.
