Places should be renamed; Supreme Court rejects BJP leader’s petition

New Delhi | The Supreme Court rejected the petition seeking to change the name of the places of historical importance. The Supreme Court rejected the petition after strongly criticizing the petitioner. The petition seeks the appointment of a commission to find out the original names of the ancient historical, cultural and religious places. The petition was filed by BJP leader Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay.

The Supreme Court told the petitioner to remember that India is a secular country. The petition points the finger at a community. This is brutal. Supreme Court Justice KM Joseph, who considered the petition, asked the petitioner if he wanted the country to boil again.

Justice Nagaratna, who was present on the division bench, asked whether the petition was an attempt to impose burden on the new generation. Hindu culture is an all-embracing way of life. The court said that the petitioner intended to rule the British by division and should not try to turn the court into an instrument to create havoc in the society.

Justice KM Joseph told the petitioner that there is a history of Hindu kings in Kerala giving land to other religions to build places of worship. The court said that the petitioner should try to understand the greatness of Hinduism and the petitioner would later understand that the court decision was correct.
