Several developments will be carried out on Place Jules-Grandclément, in Villeurbanne, in order to improve the living environment of the inhabitants.

Place Jules-Grandclément in Villeurbanne (Rhône) is preparing its metamorphosis. This very busy route now has several drawbacks. There are too many cars passing from one street to another, which causes a lot of noise. Green spaces and relaxation areas are minimal. Not to mention that people with reduced mobility do not necessarily have access to all areas of the square.
To improve the situation, the metropolis of Lyon (Rhône) and the City of Villeurbanne will undertake, by the end of 2023, major development work on the square. They will intervene following studies which will last until the end of 2022. Remember that a public consultation has already begun in order to collect the needs of the inhabitants.
The work will focus, among other things, on making rue Jean-Jaurès one-way and on the development of a two-way cycle path on this same street. A connecting staircase between Cours Tolstoy and Place Jules-Grandclément will be created. The square will also be equipped with a new refreshment bar, play areas for the youngest, new benches, numerous green spaces and plantations, as well as a space dedicated to events.
