The respite was short on the Place de la Comédie. Continuing with the work undertaken in 2023 to “restore the square to its former glory”, the new phase of work concerning the repair of the floors will resume on January 8, 2024.
Initially, the area around the Opéra Comédie will be affected. Then until February, with the delimitation of a sub-sector of 200 m² “in order to limit the disruption to the activities of the square”, specifies the City, the renovation will move gradually. “And from March, it will mainly concern the sector of the terraces located to the north of the square,” continues the municipality.
Buried sheaths to power the lighting of future parasols
As a reminder, this work aims to “restore the natural stone floors to their original condition. They consist of replacing broken or damaged slabs, repairing all of the joints and treating the limestone slabs against slipperiness by flaming. right of the terraces, this work is also an opportunity to create buried conduits, intended to power the lighting of future harmonized parasols from the ground and thus avoid the circulation of cables on the surface”, she explains.
The end of the work and delivery of the new equipment for the Comédie terraces are scheduled for summer 2024.
