PKS officially supports the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin. Fourth axis the discourse that had been blowing hard was deemed to be just a story.
“We can be certain that the fate of the fourth political axis is clear because PKS remains loyal to Anies Baswedan,” said Executive Director of Indonesian Political Parameters Adi Prayitno to journalists, Saturday (16/9/2023).
The fourth axis emerged after the Democratic Party withdrew its support for Anies, because they felt betrayed by choosing Cak Imin as their vice presidential candidate. The fourth axis of discourse then rolled out, consisting of the Democratic Party, PKS and PPP.
“Because the fourth political axis has only been political gossip so far. It is unrealistic and no party is interested,” said Adi.
PPP has indeed formed a coalition with PDIP, but the Chairman of the High Council of the Democratic Party, SBY, once mentioned that there were active ministers in Jokowi’s cabinet who tempted the Democrats to form a coalition with PPP and PKS.
“The fourth axis is not convincing. Both in terms of party and candidate. In terms of party, only the Democrats are single,” said Adi.
“Meanwhile PKS and PPP are tied to their respective coalitions. In figure, the Sandi-AHY duet is relatively uncompetitive when faced with Ganjar, Prabowo and Anies,” he continued.
Therefore, according to Adi, the fourth axis or coalition is over before the registration of the presidential and vice presidential candidates. PKS has officially supported Anies-Cak Imin, who is contesting with the Ganjar Pranowo coalition and the Prabowo Subianto coalition.
“Including, creating a new political axis is not an easy matter. Especially regarding chemistry between parties. Apart from that, time is running out before registration with the KPU,” he added.
