PKS Member of Commission IX Urges Swift Action on Polio Outbreak in Indonesia

Jakarta (09/01) — Member of Commission IX from the PKS Fraction, Ansory Siregar, highlighted the issue related to the Extraordinary Event (KLB) case of acute paralysis due to the polio virus which emerged in Klaten Regency, Central Java, and Pamekasan Regency, East Java.

This member of Commission IX said that the reappearance of positive Polio cases in Indonesia was a case that needed attention, this was because Indonesia had been declared Polio free in 2014.

“The emergence of positive cases of Polio in Klaten, Central Java and Pamekasan, East Java is important for all of us to pay attention to, because since 2014 we have been designated as a Polio-free country,” he said.

Ansory urged the government to respond quickly and increase awareness of the potential emergence of more Polio infections in various regions.

“The emergence of positive cases of Polio must be immediately responded to by the government through the deployment of the Health Service to intensify vaccination in areas, especially in areas that have been designated as Polio Extraordinary Event (KLB) status to prevent Polio cases from occurring in many areas,” he said.

At the end, the Member of Commission IX also invited the public to jointly prevent the spread of the Polio virus from an early age through implementing clean, healthy living behavior and routine Polio immunization.

“Transmission of the Polio virus can be caused by water contaminated with feces containing the Polio virus, or an unclean environment and poor hygiene habits, therefore I invite all people to adopt a clean and healthy lifestyle to reduce the risk of transmitting the Polio virus,” he concluded. .
