Members of Commission II DPR RI from the Prosperous Justice Party (MCC) Mardani Ali Sera said that he gave the authority to appoint the Acting Governor (Pj) to the President Joko Widodo has deprived the people of their rights.
This statement was made by Mardani in response to the statement of the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian who revealed that the figure who will appoint the Acting governor in 2022 and 2023 is Jokowi.
“This is called taking the people’s right to determine their regional head taken by the government. According to the explanation of the Minister of Home Affairs, it was taken by the president. For a long period of up to two years,” Mardani said in a short message to CNNIndonesia.com, Tuesday (16/3).
Departing from that, he urged the Simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) to be normalized from 2024 to 2022 and 2023.
Mardani also requested that the discussion of the Election Bill (RUU) be continued to normalize the timing of the simultaneous regional elections.
“This further emphasizes the importance of the implementation of the 2022 and 2023 Pilkada. PKS continues to demand that the revision of the Election Law be carried out, including holding the 2022 and 2023 Pilkada,” he said.
He stated that granting the authority to appoint the Acting governor to Jokowi further emphasized that the elimination of the Concurrent Pilkada in 2022 and 2023 would make power increasingly focused on one person.
According to him, the formation of the Final Assessment Team (TPA) will not have much effect because the authority to appoint the Acting governor remains in Jokowi’s hands.
Previously, Tito said that Jokowi would appoint the Acting governor in 2022 and 2023.
Hundreds of acting governors will be appointed in 2022 and 2023 when the terms of office for a number of regional heads expire because the next regional head election will only be held in 2024.
“At the provincial level, the Ministry of Home Affairs proposes it to the President. The president determines.
