PKP informs about the reduction of ticket prices to the level before January 11, 2023, when the new price list came into force. The carrier had previously justified the increase in electricity prices. Now the company explains that the lower prices are possible thanks to a larger compensation for 2023. How will the prices for railway passengers in Wrocław change? We checked the cost of travel from Wrocław to the largest Polish cities.
In 2022, 90 percent of PKP Intercity passengers used the connections of Moje Linie Kolejowe (TLK) and InterCity (IC). These are economical connections, for which ticket prices are lower than premium trains operated by Pendolino.
The increase in ticket prices for PKP Intercity trains was introduced in mid-January 2023 and included an increase of approximately 11.8 percent. for the TLK/IC relation and about 17.5 per cent. for Pendolino.
From March 1, the carrier returns to the old prices, explaining at the same time that this is possible thanks to “additional optimization measures” and an increase in compensation for 2023 under the public service contract.
– Following the lower prices of single tickets, the prices of section tickets, Intercity Cards (entitling to unlimited travel on PKP Intercity trains on any routes), as well as fees for the transport of bicycles, dogs and luggage will also be reduced – adds PKP Intercity.
The PKP Intercity timetable and ticket prices are widely available in the Internet search engine for railway connections. In order to realistically check how much cheaper travel to the largest Polish cities will be, we used one scheme. We covered the range of connections on the last Friday of February and the first Friday of March, from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Here are the results:
Poznań
