There has been a lot of talk about Warta in recent days, but not because of the results. Next season, the team is to play Ekstraklasa matches in Poznań at Enea Stadion, because such a requirement was set by the PZPN club licensing committee. Negotiations regarding the lease of the facility are currently underway between the club’s authorities and the stadium operator. The Greens, however, must first stay in the top league, as their advantage over the relegation zone is only three points.

After two victories in a row, Warciarze lost to Piast 0-2 a week ago in Gliwice, looking very average. Coach Szulczek, who will leave the club at the end of the season, assured that the defeat did not affect the team’s morale in any way.
– The atmosphere in the team is good. Whether we lose or win the match doesn’t matter. Yes, the result may affect our mood the day after the meeting, but not after a few meetings. We try to maintain good energy and atmosphere at all times. It is not the result of the last match that determines how we function. Especially since we have another match a few days later. We always draw conclusions, but the key is to concentrate on what lies ahead, said the coach at a press conference.
In the next round, Warciarze will face Widzew, which they won 1-0 away in the first round. However, the Poznań team fortunately won, as the Łódź team was the dominant side in this match.
– I certainly expect Warta to be organized, with a better level of decision-making than it was in Łódź during our first match. However, I would very much like this match to end with a similar result. We have to improve things that didn’t work in the match against Piast,” explained Warta’s manager.
The Łódź team is one of the best scoring teams in the spring round. Szulczek does not hide the fact that this is due to, among others, goalkeeper Rafał Gikiewicz, who is one of the strongest points of the closest rival.
– Like every goalkeeper, he will make better or worse decisions, but in my opinion, he is the best goalkeeper in the league and it is no coincidence that he played in the Bundesliga before. His particularly strong point is his footwork. Until Gikiewicz played, Daniel Myśliwiec was a solid coach, and after he came to Widzew, he is now a top coach in the top league. This is also visible when Widzew scores when Gikiewicz stands between the posts. Personally, I would prefer not to watch him in Sunday’s match – summed up the coach of the Poznań team.
