Lech’s players are disappointing their fans this season, but they are still in the game for the Polish championship. After the last draw with Cracovia (0:0), the Poznań team advanced to the runner-up position, but no one in the capital of Greater Poland was satisfied with this fact.

“Kolejorz” under the leadership of Mariusz Rumak scores averagely, but four rounds before the finish of the competition, it is only four points behind the leader Jagiellonia Białystok. However, the game itself, its style and effectiveness also leave much to be desired, and the coach and players are under heavy criticism after almost every round.

Coach Rumak does not hide the fact that the main problem often lies in the players’ heads.

– In conversations with the players, we come to the conclusion that our biggest rival is ourselves. We often have moments when we lose control of the match. The biggest challenge is to find such a rhythm, but also to be convinced that this continuity of work and conscientiousness will translate into results. The most important thing is that we are able to sort these matters out in our heads and in our legs – said the coach at a conference before the away match against Ruch Chorzów.

The newcomer to the top league, despite the unexpected 3-2 win against Śląsk in Wrocław, has only a purely mathematical chance of staying in the top league. According to Rumak, the Chorzów team has a lot of strong offensive advantages.

– Ruch uses the same system as Cracovia, but plays completely differently. Chorzów has a lot of offensive qualities, many players attack the penalty area, so we have to be well organized. Ruch also has its “demons” when losing the ball. Pogoń showed how you can create a one-on-one situation with the opponent’s goalkeeper even with one pass from the goalkeeper – explained the manager of the Poznań team.

Rumak revealed some elements of the strategy for the next meeting.

– If we have the same ball possession as we did in the match against Cracovia, Ruch will not create as many chances. This is a weaker team, less experienced in defense, and with slightly weaker physical conditions. We, however, are richer for the lesson from the last meeting. We know what spaces we need to attack, how to move between the goalkeeper and the defense line, and this will probably be the key to this match – said the coach.

Personnel problems are the daily bread of the Lech coach, but as he assured, Filip Marchwiński, who suffered a minor injury a week ago, should be in the squad for Friday’s match in Chorzów. Bartosz Salamon also returns to the team, who had to be suspended for yellow cards in the last match.
