Bandar Lampung (Lampost.co) — The Indonesian Family Planning Association (PKBI) Lampung Province has a free HIV consultation clinic service to the community. The program noted that most of the residents consulted were young people.
The clinic with the name Rago Kencana is open every Monday to Friday at 09.00-15.00 WIB, and Saturday open until 12.00 WIB. The consultation is open in person and online through telle counseling to make it easier for people who are constrained by distance.
PKBI Ragom Kencana Clinic Manager Lampung, Regina Locita Pratiwi, said the clinic had been open since 1990. However, HIV assistance will only start in 2022.
Within one semester, there were 200 people who came for HIV consultation. Of these, young people make up the largest group.
“Around 80 percent of them are young people because at this age they are vulnerable to HIV transmission through association and the environment,” said Regina, to Lampost.co, Sunday, July 9, 2023.
Apart from opening a consulting clinic, his party routinely socializes HIV in schools and universities. This activity is routinely carried out every month as a form of awareness to young people about the dangers of HIV for their health and life.
“Starting from junior high school, high school, to tertiary institutions, routinely provide education and information about the dangers of not taking care of the reproductive organs, factors, risks, prevention, and transmission,” he said
According to him, young people are the most vulnerable to contracting the HIV virus because they are experiencing sexual turmoil and the surrounding environment greatly influences the risk of transmission. “That is the gateway for HIV to be in teenage friends,” he said.
It also embraces the cat population community and commercial sex workers. “We open access for anyone who checks for HIV with guaranteed confidentiality,” he said.
