Mexico City. Workers of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (PJF) called for a mobilization on May 5 at the Angel of Independence to defend the autonomy of this body, as well as express their rejection of a new reform in the matter.
At a conference they called for the demonstration against violations of their labor rights to be replicated in all judicial circuits nationwide.
They indicated that with a new Reform to the Law of the Judiciary the intention is to elect judges and ministers “in the manner.”
“This implies that the Executive Branch, that is, the president will be able to appoint them or the Legislature will be able to elect officials to occupy those positions. Where is the division of powers, that does not mean the interference of the Executive Branch to the PJF, of course which is an interference.”
‘The same thing is going to happen that happens when there are changes in government, they are going to fire the workers because they are going to bring their teams,’ said Patricia Aguayo Bernal, secretary of the Tenth Collegiate Court on Labor Matters of the First Circuit.
The workers reiterated that the interference of other powers in the Federal Judiciary is typical of “authoritarian governments. We do not need a new Constitution, we want the current one and the rights it protects to be respected. With a new reform to the PJF, the workers, including judges and magistrates , they will be fired in 2025 and new ones will be imposed under unclear conditions.”
