PJF workers demand that Piedra Ibarra not be re-elected in the CNDH

Mexico City. Dozens of workers from the Judicial Branch of the Federation (PJF) demonstrated in the Senate of the Republic to demand that <a href="http://www.world-today-news.com/rosario-piedra-accuses-the-opposition-of-trying-to-make-the-cndh-hostage-to-vested-interests/" title="Rosario Piedra accuses the opposition of "trying to make the CNDH hostage to vested interests"”>Rosario Piedra Ibarra not be re-elected as head of the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH).

Piedra Ibarra “does not have the moral quality to be there”, its ratification would be “an attack on freedom and human rights”, stated the workers who for 65 days have carried out protests against the judicial reform and the stoppage of activities in all federal courts and tribunals.

Members of organizations such as the 32 United Circuits Coalition and the PJF worker unions pointed out that during her current administration, Rosario Piedra Ibarra has not attended to or issued any recommendations to authorities at the three levels of government in cases such as forced disappearances and the lack of attention to the organizations of search mothers.

“Re-electing Piedra Ibarra would mean that the CNDH would once again reign supreme and obscurantism would return,” because, they said, in their case, although the workers dissatisfied with the judicial reform requested the intervention of the CNDH to rule against the constitutional reform that establishes the election by popular vote of judges, magistrates and ministers, the body did nothing.

On the eve of their return to work, which will presumably happen next Monday, Patricia Aguayo, one of the leaders of the workers who have mobilized against the judicial reform, announced that this Sunday they will hold a demonstration near the Autódromo de Mexico City, during the celebration of the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
