The Milwaukee Bucks keep tinkering with their team to win the first championship since 1972. The team around the reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo has arranged a trade with the Houston Rockets and Phoenix Suns to bring the defensive specialist PJ Tucker to the beer city.
This is what Adrian Wojnarowski reports from ESPN. Accordingly, in addition to PJ Tucker, the Bucks also get the Forward Rodions Kurucs and a first round pick in 2022, which originally belonged to the Bucks. In return, DJ Augustin and DJ Wilson move to Texas. The Rockets also received the Bucks’ first round pick for 2023.
The Bucks also trade forward Torrey Craig to the Phoenix Suns. The key player in this trade, however, is Tucker, who has played an important role as a small ball center for the Rockets in recent years. In this season, however, Tucker reduced something and only put on an average of 4.4 points and 4.6 rebounds with a three-way quota of 31.4 percent.
The 35-year-old was recently no longer with the team because he wanted to be traded, the Rockets now fulfilled the wish of the former Bamberg native. The Big Man still has a contract until the end of the season in Milwaukee with $ 7.97 million in the books. According to Bobby Marks (ESPN) the Bucks could extend Tucker’s contract immediately, with a maximum of around 17 million dollars over two years.
Milwaukee Bucks have two other ranks
In addition, the Bucks in Kurucs received a young forward who had come to Houston from Brooklyn as part of the trade from James Harden. The 23-year-old only played eleven games for the Rockets, in which he recorded just 1.2 points and 1.0 rebounds in an average of just under 7 minutes. The Latvian is making $ 1.8 million this season, after which the Bucks hold a team option.
No longer in the Bucks roster, however, is DJ Augustin, who had just arrived from Orlando via Free Agency before the season. The 33-year-old couldn’t really live up to expectations, which is why his minutes have been getting fewer and fewer in the past few games.
Wilson and Craig also no longer played a role under coach Mike Budenholzer. The transactions save the Bucks around $ 3 million and are now 3.5 million below the hard cap. At the same time, there are two free roster spots available, which could be filled with minimal contracts.
