Pity! 3 bodies of Indonesian crew members killed on Chinese ship were smuggled through Batam

Suara.com – Two people were designated as suspects in the Criminal Case of Trafficking in Persons of TIP). Both were involved in the smuggling of 3 bodies ABK WNI from the Chinese-flagged Fu Yuan Yu 892 fishing boat at the sea border of Singapore-Batam a few days ago.

Head of Public Relations of the Riau Islands Police, Kombes Pol, Harry Goldenhartd, said the two suspects were detained because they were involved in the recruitment process of 3 bodies who were victims of trafficking.

Harry explained that the victim was dispatched in October 2019 to Taiwan via Singapore.

Then in early August, the family received information from PT SMB that this Indonesian Migrant Worker had died.

Then on August 10, 2020, PT SMB received three bodies at the Batu Ampar Port.

“The next day the police received information about the bodies of Indonesian migrant workers passing through Indonesian waters,” Harry said as reported Batamnews.co.id (network Suara.com), Friday (14/8/2020).

“The next day, the officers managed to arrest a PT SMB manager at a hotel in Batam,” he continued.

There were 3 victims, the first with the initials Dicky Arya Nurgraha from Donggala, Central Sulawesi.

Then Sya’ban (22) came from Bireun, Aceh and Musnan (26) also came from Bireun, Aceh.

Meanwhile, there are two suspects, namely Joni as Director of PT SMB and Erlangga as manager of PT SMB.

“The mode is the same as in previous cases, where PT SMB recruited victims, then employed them on Chinese-flagged fishing boats,” said Harry.

Director of General Crimes of Polda Kepri Kombes Pol Arie Dharmanto explained that the victim was taken to Batu Ampar port using a bezel boat chartered by the suspect by one of the residents.

Arie explained that the process of picking up the three bodies was in violation of the law.

“One of them is regulated in Article 93 of Law number 6 of 2018 concerning health and quarantine. As well as Article 181 of the Criminal Code, carrying a corpse with the intention of being hidden and neglected, “said Arie.

However, he said that, when the three bodies were to be brought to Batam, the family of the three bodies was already waiting.

“Yes, so this family was contacted by the agent. But the provisions are not like this, and it turns out that after we did some deepening, this company did not yet have permission to recruit workers who worked as ABK, “said Arie.

Many Indonesian crew members were recruited by PT SMB

Arie revealed, from this case, it turned out that there were many more Indonesian crew members who were still on the ship who were recruited by PT SMB.

“From the suspect’s confession that we have examined until this afternoon, there are still 20 people on the same ship,” said Arie.

For the determination of this suspect, Arie explained that previously there were three people who were arrested, including the owner of the beheading.

However, the owner of the beheading was not arrested because he did not know he was going to bring the body.

“The boat was rented without knowing that he was carrying a corpse, so we did not arrest him,” said Arie.
