“Pisa’s Playoff Hopes Crushed in Mediocre Performance against Frosinone – Match Recap”

The Nerazzurri are reaping what they have sown in the last two months and are no longer architects of their destiny to fight for the playoffs after a match that symbolizes the mental and temperamental mediocrity of the Nerazzurri. A Frosinone who appeared not irresistible and who would not have pulled his hair out for a Pisan victory managed to score 3 goals walking against D’Angelo’s team. Gliozzi’s goal, which went into double figures for the first time in Serie B, was useless. In the second half, Pisa melted like snow in the sun. After the third goal conceded by the Nerazzurri, the chants of “We want people who fight” and “Mister let us enter, the Ultras are playing” starts. Team contested rightly and which, under the current conditions, deserves not to play the playoffs. Many boos at the end of the game.

A match that could no longer be wrong. Against Frosinone, Pisa had to bring out their attributes and really show what they were made of to stay in the playoffs. To do this D’Angelo, who appeared almost disconsolate at the press conference, tries to revolutionize the starting eleven to face the Ciociari, already mathematically promoted to Serie A. In front of Nicolas in fact there is Hermannsson, Caracciolo, Rus and Beruatto in defence. In midfield space for Nagy, Marin and Gargiulo, while in attack the trident made up of Masucci, Gliozzi and Sibilli. In reality, it soon becomes clear that D’Angelo resorts to a 4-4-2 formation in defense with Sibilli on the right wing and Gargiulo on the left, while Marin and Nagy play in the middle. Bench for many players who have appeared subdued in recent games. In fact, Torregrossa, Mastinu, Tramoni, Moreo, Morutan and Barba start from reserves for a total revolution. Not a great response from the public with 2000 less spectators than the previous two home games and “only” around 7500 spectators present. The first half sees a clearly superior Pisa from the point of view of ball possession. During the first minute it was D’Angelo’s team who passed through Gliozzi, who returned to scoring from open play after 5 months. After half an hour, however, a very lucky draw arrives from the guests with Garritano incurring the unfortunate deviation of Rus in his own goal. In the second half, however, two more goals from Frosinone shatter Pisa’s dreams, which are now no longer the architect of their own destiny in the playoff fight. A truly colorless performance by D’Angelo’s team with players strolling on the pitch and with a collective that, although they started the game well, melts for the umpteenth time like snow in the sun.

FIRST HALF – Positive departure from Pisa which, in the first 50 seconds, packs the advantage network. Rus’s long pass for Sibilli, back support for Masucci who, first of all, serves Gliozzi, able to fly with a lob to overtake Turati for his first goal from open play since last December 17th. Thus number 9 was unlocked. In the 7th minute Gliozzi, evidently with a hot foot, tries to reply with a big right foot on an assist from Nagy, but this time Turati relaxes and rejects. Frosinone responds in the 22nd minute with Kalaj, but Nicolas wins the ball in two stages and with some indecision. Shortly after, Rus made up for a mistake by Caracciolo with a valuable defensive intervention. In the 30th minute Pisa again with Gliozzi, who tries a pretentious volley after Sibilli’s throw, but the ball goes wide. The public appreciates the effort and still applauds the good play. In the 32nd minute an unpretentious attempt by Garritano incurs a deflection by Rus with Nicolas who is unbalanced and thus Frosinone’s equalizer arrives. In the 36th minute Nagy tries with a left foot from a distance, but Turati blocks it on the ground.

SECOND HALF – Pisa also starts strong in the second half. Indeed, in the 48th minute Sibilli dribbled past an opponent and went for a shot, but his shot was blocked by Turati. In the 52nd minute, however, Borrelli reverses the result with a non-irresistible header that is put in his goal by Nicolas. D’Angelo to revive a situation that has suddenly become desperate inserts Moreo and Morutan in place of Masucci and Gargiulo. As soon as he enters, Moreo tries a bicycle kick that ends up in Turati’s arms. In the 64th minute Moreo stands out on the development of a corner, but the ball is high over the crossbar. In the 65th minute Sibilli converges, goes to the conclusion from distance, but Turati keeps a good guard. In the 69th minute it is Morutan who has a good chance, but his shot does not turn enough and ends up wide on Turati’s right. D’Angelo inserts Torregrossa and Esteves for Gliozzi and Hermannsson. In the 73rd minute, a sensational opportunity for Moreo who devours the possibility of a draw face to face with Turati. Pisa accelerates again with Sibilli getting a precious corner on his conclusion. In the 77th minute, however, a very serious mistake by Marin triggers Frosinone who finalize the 3-1 goal with Caso. Pisa thus shuts down and sadly ends the game without having any more impact.
