/ world today news/ Today, the Bulgarian MEP from the Group of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament, Georgi Pirinski, addressed a letter to the Dutch Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Social Care and Employment, Lodevik Ascher, requesting that the Minister answer the questions asked during yesterday’s meeting of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs of the EP. In his responses, Usher failed to address Pirinski’s following two questions:
First – shouldn’t the new platform on undeclared work deal not only with its limitation and prevention, but also with its transformation into legally declared work. As well as – doesn’t the minister consider that the trade unions should fully participate in the work of the platform.
Second – won’t the expert boards on competitiveness proposed by the European Commission, with their “independent” recommendations, further increase the pressure to freeze wages and worsen working conditions.
The lack of clarity on the part of the minister on these acutely relevant issues on the labor market casts a shadow over the otherwise good intentions expressed by him during his presentation to the Commission of the European Parliament. That is why, in his letter, Pirinski insists on Minister Usher’s unequivocal answers on them.
