GLOSA / In recent days, two things have been driving the Czech media scene. A part of the population with an interest in politics follows the events after the dismissal of Ivan Bartoš from the government. And the part that focuses more on celebrities and lighter topics can basically monitor the development of the case with the working title “Jaromír Soukup’s Monocles” online on a daily basis. One would not have thought until recently how similar these two matters are.
It’s actually a competition to see who gets the most attention. Jaromír Soukup had a fight with the husband of Agáta Hanychová, with whom the fallen media mogul has a young daughter. There are bruises, lawsuits, videos, many outputs on social networks and an endless number of bizarre expressions of various tabloid-Instagram figures. And you don’t know if you should be embarrassed, laugh or call a social worker.
Then there are still the Government Pirates. Ivan Bartoš failed to launch the new construction management system. However, his colleagues claim that everything is working, the godfathers are to blame for the dismissal of the minister, and anyone who says otherwise serves the future coalition of ODS and ANO. Instead of tabloid editors, some supposedly serious commentators are jumping on this bandwagon, who are once again fighting against corruption and clientelism, which is apparently represented by the Civic Democratic Party, with whom the Pirates sat in the government for three years, but all the while they watched the godfathers parade around with gritted teeth. and they divide the state.
But after Mr. Miroslav Dopit, Agáta Hanychová’s husband, only one person decided to fully compete with Jaromír Soukup: Jakub Michálek. His speech at the press conference after Petr Fiala announced to Bartoš that he was leaving his government will go down in the history of political marketing. Like something that should never be done. It was a situation similar to the moment when, after a liter of wine at two in the morning, you finally decide to tell your ex-boyfriend the truth. And if not to an ex-boyfriend, then at least to a boss. Just a thing that is never done, because when you look at your phone in the morning with a hangover, you will bitterly regret the idea that seemed great at night.
In his tirade, Mr. Michálek accused the ODS of everything you can think of. He spiced it up by saying, for example, that they “handled” the refugee crisis, even though it was handled by Interior Minister Vít Rakušan, whose achievements he forgot; but soon after, word came from the Pirates that the Austrian STAN movement should also leave the government. Behind everything bad are Martin Kuba, Jan Skopeček and Marek Benda, the servants of the godfathers, those who were mentioned so many times by another lover of cabaret prints, Andrej Babiš. Subsequently, the chairman of the pirate deputies started conspiracies about the oligarchic-media complex, which includes everyone who says about the dysfunctional construction management system that it does not work.
So let’s hope that Mr. Michálek’s next press conference will take place, for example, in front of Agáta Hanychová’s house. Subsequently, he could try to fight with Martin Kuba and film the program Battles of Jakub Michálek. Olga Richterová would subsequently announce in a live broadcast on Instagram that she wishes everyone a speedy recovery, and on that occasion she used the account for product placement, as influencers do.
Finally, everything finally culminates in a Clash of the Stars match. And the campaign for the parliamentary elections can begin, whether it involves Soukup with tractor drivers or Michálek, who is fighting against the godfathers with whom he was in government for three years. There is something to look forward to.
