LOS ANGELES (AP) — Michael Chavis and Tucupita Marcano hit two-run homers, and the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-3 Tuesday night for their second straight series against the league’s Western Division leaders. National.
The Pirates have won four of five against the Dodgers in May. Los Angeles lost its fifth series of the season after blowing several chances, failing to capitalize on seven walks and a hit on a slugger, and had just four hits.
The victory went to the record of Mitch Keller (2-5) after allowing two runs and two hits in five innings to stop a losing streak of five games as a starter. The right-hander completed his work with five strikeouts.
Mexican Julio Urías (3-5) took the loss after giving up four runs and eight hits, with eight strikeouts and a walk, on the night his doll was released.
For the Pirates, the Venezuelans Diego Castillo 3-1; Tucupita Marcano 3-1, with one scored and two RBIs. The Dominican Rodolfo Castro 4-1.
