Salina Cruz, Oax.- This Monday afternoon a pipe with drinking water ran out of brakes when it was joining a climb. So it ended up hitting a pole owned by the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).
The accident happened when the driver of the heavy unit was circulating on Hidalgo street in the Juquilita neighborhood, at the height of a slope. However, the pipe’s brakes failed and it began to descend without its driver being able to control the vehicle.
Finally, the unit hit a CFE pole, which caused several power cables to detach, leaving a large part of the neighborhood’s residents without electricity.
Due to the above, those affected requested the support of the Municipal Civil Protection and CFE personnel, for the restoration of the electricity supply.
Fortunately, only extensive material damage was recorded with no victims to regret. The neighbors called on the road authorities to verify this type of units. Which are adapted as pipes, but many of them are obsolete.
In addition, a large part of the owners of these units do not provide them with the corresponding maintenance, endangering the physical integrity of the driver himself, pedestrians and motorists who may be involved in an accident with them.
