The actress and star Vanessa Show, a pioneer among trans artists, died today at the age of 72, reported a statement from the Argentine Association of Actors.
“It is with deep regret that we say goodbye to our affiliate, the actress and vedette Vanessa Show. “She was one of the first trans artists in our country who achieved great popularity and marked the way for future generations,” the entity noted in a publication where it detailed that there will be no wake or public farewell ceremony.
Born on September 27, 1950 in La Banda, Santiago del Estero, she began her artistic career as a vedette at the age of 17 at the Maipo Theater, sharing the stage with Nélida Roca and Nélida Lobato.
Later, he participated in numerous musical and magazine shows such as “Corrientes corner Champs Elysees”, “Pourquoi pas?”, “The hot cats on the roof of Corrientes” and “The magazine of the third sex”.
After a stint in the cinema for the film “The Pills”, starring Darío Víttori and Susana Brunetti, she successfully toured France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland and Italy, a European territory to which she returned in exile after having been persecuted and threatened in the ’70s decade.
In the 90s she returned to the country, made television appearances, starred in the short film “Diva”, by Juan De Francesco, and wrote her memoirs in the book “It’s true.”
