Stefano Pioli explains why he decided to set up Yacine Adli in Milan midfield against Borussia Dortmund and warns of another “open” Champions League game.
It starts in San Siro at 8pm GMT.

“We want to qualify with all our might. This game feels like a turning point, we have to play it with great strength and positivity,” Pioli told Mediaset Infinity.
While Rafael Leao, Noah Okafor, Simon Kjaer, Pierre Kalulu and others are out injured, the coach decided to use Adli in midfield instead of Rade Krunic.
“We want to develop in a certain way in midfield tonight, he has the characteristics that best suit this style of football.”
The first meeting in Germany last month ended goalless as the Rossoneri remarkably continued to fail to score in their first three Champions League games.
“Borussia Dortmund left gaps, but so did we, and it is likely that we will see a repeat of that open game tonight,” Pioli noted.
“Their football is very attacking, so they leave quite a lot of space and we have to strike at the right moment.”
It’s an extraordinarily tight group, with Borussia Dortmund leading the way with seven points, followed by Paris Saint-Germain with six, Milan with five and Newcastle United with four.
