CELEBRITIES Spink (44) has shown her most candid side. In an interview with ’60 Minutes’, the American singer talks about her overdose that almost killed her in November 1995. “I was completely derailed,” he said.
In 2012, Pink revealed to the world for the first time that she had overdosed in November 1995. “Between the ages of 12 and 15, I went to parties a lot. At that time I was using a lot of drugs,” she told ‘Entertainment Weekly’ at the time.
Pink elaborates on this in the interview with ’60 minutes’. It was just weeks before the singer signed her first recording contract. Pink was 15 years old and went to a party to celebrate Thanksgiving. But then disaster struck: the singer had overdosed on drugs. “I had taken ecstasy, but also PCP and crystal meth,” she admits. “I almost wasn’t there anymore.”
During that period, the artist said she completely went off the rails. “I grew up in a house where my parents were always yelling at each other. They hated each other, so I took refuge in drugs. I dealt drugs and got kicked out of my house. Then I quit school. Things weren’t going well for me at all.”

In the interview – where she does not mince her words – she says that the overdose was a turning point in her life. “I haven’t touched hard drugs since then. Once I make a decision, I’m done with it,” she believes. Shortly after the dark period in her life, she signed a contract with LaFace Records with her band Choice. It marked the start of her prosperous career.
