Famous architects have tried Battersea Power Station. It really is a different landscape than what you can see on Pink Floyd’s “Animals” album cover.

Once upon a time there was a pink pig that flew around here. Now the plant houses luxury apartments, while there is no room for the homeless in the neighborhood.

On a cold day 46 years ago, December 3, 1976, a 12m long inflatable pink pig soared into the London sky. In the background towered four white fireplaces. The pig was called Algie and would soon become a cute detail on the cover of Pink Floyd’s “Animals” album, released the following year.

The building used to be Battersea Power Station, one of London’s most iconic sites.
