MILWAUKEE – The Dominican Miguel Sanó and Mitch Garver hit home runs to support the starter Michael Pineda and the Minnesota Twins beat the Milwaukee Brewers 8-2 on Sunday to win the inaugural series.
Luis Arráez hit 3-for-3 with a pair of walks for the Twins to take two of three series games. Max Kepler and Sanó drove in three runs each.
Pineda (1-0) allowed a dirty run in five innings. The right-hander struck out five, allowed two walks and four hits.
Cody Stashak, y the Dominicans Hansel Robles and Jorge Alcalá they combined to shoot one hit across four innings. The only hit that allowed the bullpen was a home run by Jackie Bradley Jr. off Stashak in the sixth.
For the Twins, the Venezuelan Arráez 3-3, with one scored. The dominicans Jorge Polanco 4-0 with two runs scored, Sanó 5-1 with one run scored and two RBIs, Pineda 2-0, and Nelson Cruz with an RBI without an official at-bat.

SAN DIEGO – Rookie Taylor Widener chilled San Diego’s powerful offense through six scoreless innings to score victory in his first major league start and David Peralta hit a two-run triple for the Arizona Diamondbacks , who beat the Padres 3-1 Sunday to avoid a sweep in the four-game series.
Widener (1-0) held the Padres on three hits and three walks, striking out five.
The Padres avoided the shutout when the Dominican Fernando Tatis Jr. He hit his first home run of the season with two outs in the ninth inning off Chris Devenski, who scored the save.

Cedric Mullins was 5-for-5 with three doubles and one walk for the Orioles, giving up four of his hits in the first four innings. Maikel Franco added a two-run double in the first and helped Baltimore sweep a series at Fenway for the first time since Aug. 25-27, 2017.
